Our church hosted a wonderful event on Thursday, May 20th to thank the teachers and staff of Salisbury Central School for their continued service, adaptability and support to area students and their families throughout the pandemic. Many teachers, despite working in the same 2 buildings, had hardly seen one another this school year. On this warm and sunny afternoon they were able to relax, play and visit around 2 bonfires on the beautiful Silver Lake Conference Center grounds and enjoy a complimentary dinner of pizza, chicken wings, carrots and s’mores. Eleven representatives of our church (including 2 who are also staff at Silver Lake!) mingled, thanked and served our guests. Lyla Boone, who attends second grade at SCS, presented a speech she wrote to express her own gratitude (click video below to view). Wooden medallions with the school logo were made by Mike Boone and handed out to all of the teachers as a reminder of their service during a challenging year.

The Salisbury Housing Committee creates affordable rental housing; the Salisbury Housing Trust develops affordable housing for ownership. These two groups of volunteers lead our community in advocating on behalf of neighbors who would otherwise be unable to reside in Salisbury because of our skewed housing prices.
